John just called - he met with the doctor at UT Southwestern - he says he'll only need 33 radiation treatments (instead of 42), and that he won't have to be on chemo the rest of his life. He's also asked to have the tumor sent to him to do his own pathology. He says that he doesn't doubt that it is glioblastoma, but says with the "small" size and the clear/clean margins, the prognosis may be better. He told John that the tumor might come back some day and at that time, they might be able to do surgery and treatment again (his Houston dr had told him he would not be able to have any more surgery). This dr says John is in good shape and young enough that they will be shooting for getting this in remission and keeping it there. He goes back on Thursday to get the tattoo on his head for the radiation target and to meet with his chemo dr.

Some positive news! Amen!

Update: John emailed me this morning at around 2am. Could not sleep I am sure, I was concerned that he was not sleeping. He got a lot of bad news yesterday. They told him 42 days of radiation, doing it only M-F. Also chemo at bedtime each night for the rest of his life. He said they told him 20% chance of living past 4 yrs. 25% chance of living past 2 yrs. His feeling is 14 mo or less. Don’t know where he got that.
Yes a lot of prayer is needed.
