Big John

John has been fighting cancer for years! He has under gone radiation, chemo and a number of surgeries. Last week a prayer chain at work, prayed for John to recover. Please read the following:

John called New Years Eve night at some friends place where we were
jamming and said he felt good, no pain, was really upbeat and that he
was planning on coming home today. I was told by some friends that
talked to Linda Wednesday (as I understood it) that the night after he
had surgery that she was laying with her head on her hands and all of a
sudden she felt God’s presence in the room and she looked up at John and
she said that she saw a glow around John’s head and that she just really
felt God’s presence strong in the room and as she watched, she saw the
swelling begin to leave his head and the swelling went down. GOD is
still in the miracle working business. So I’m sure John will thank
everybody for their prayers because God has answered prayer on his
behalf again.

Thanks to everyone who prayed for John and Linda, I know that they are
very thankful that they have friends who will stand by them in a time
like this.

John called Sandi yesterday and this is what he told her
yesterday::::

He told me that the last MRI Wed night showed no tumor, no blood
vessels, no arteries in the area of the surgery. Also said they were 99
percent sure it was the thyroid cancer and radiation wouldn’t help it
but cancer and brain drs are going to debate that – 47 staples, I think,
and 4 titanium plates – goes back on 12th.

Update: John emailed me this morning at around 2am. Could not sleep I am sure, I was concerned that he was not sleeping. He got a lot of bad news yesterday. They told him 42 days of radiation, doing it only M-F. Also chemo at bedtime each night for the rest of his life. He said they told him 20% chance of living past 4 yrs. 25% chance of living past 2 yrs. His feeling is 14 mo or less. Don’t know where he got that.
Yes a lot of prayer is needed.

John just called – he met with the doctor at UT Southwestern – he says he’ll only need 33 radiation treatments (instead of 42), and that he won’t have to be on chemo the rest of his life. He’s also asked to have the tumor sent to him to do his own pathology. He says that he doesn’t doubt that it is glioblastoma, but says with the “small” size and the clear/clean margins, the prognosis may be better. He told John that the tumor might come back some day and at that time, they might be able to do surgery and treatment again (his Houston dr had told him he would not be able to have any more surgery). This dr says John is in good shape and young enough that they will be shooting for getting this in remission and keeping it there. He goes back on Thursday to get the tattoo on his head for the radiation target and to meet with his chemo dr.

    Some positive news! Amen!
